It is always the part of this job that I really enjoy... meeting people for the first time, learning about their needs and desires, being invited into someone's home. It really is a privilege.
But with that privilege comes the pressure of finding someone to support that person who can meet the support requirements, is well suited to their sense of humour, understands their quirks and appreciates how important it is to get those things right.
Then again, I go to the next part of the job I love, meeting someone who wants to spend time with another human being, supporting them to remain independent, helping them do the things they love and see them in their most vulnerable but still caring for another....
This really is an honour.... not a job!
